The Robert A. Davis (RAD) Memorial is named in honor of PFC Robert A. “Bobby” Davis, the first from Chester County, Pennsylvania to be fatally wounded in combat during the Vietnam War, November 15, 1965. At age 25, Bobby fell in the Ia Drang Valley, a battle that captured national attention and changed the war in Vietnam. A decorated hero, he received the Bronze Star with valor, the Purple Heart and other national and state honors for shielding his comrades.
